Call for Papers: Special Session on "Machine Learning in Medicine and Biology"
Continuous advances in computational intelligence technology have enabled researchers to collect and effectively analyze large amounts of complex clinical and biological data. In recent years, research in the interdisciplinary area of computer assisted medical decision-making has dramatically intensified. The overall objective is to provide physicians with computer tools that can assist them with their clinical decisions. This session aims to provide a platform for researchers to present and discuss recent breakthroughs in this area. The session will focus on (1) theoretical aspects of machine learning techniques for data analysis, and (2) practical applications of machine learning techniques in medicine and biology. The session will include 6 papers.
Specific topics of interest include but not limited to:
Architectures and algorithms for knowledge-based medical decision systems
Aspects of knowledge representation and reasoning
Data mining and knowledge discovery in medical databases
Applications of machine learning in disease detection, diagnosis, treatment planning, and prognosis
Applications of artificial intelligence in the automated interpretation of medical images
INSTRUCTION FOR AUTHORS
Only electronic copies of the papers in Microsoft Word, PDF or Postscript forms are acceptable for review purposes and must be sent to the session chair. However, please note that you will be required to send the final version of your paper, if it is accepted. Papers must correspond to the requirements detailed in the Instructions to Authors which are placed on the Conference Web Site. All papers must be presented by one of the authors.
